On Prime Video, Amazon’s content platform, they have a television project that requires you to pay attention: a series called Su Majestad and where Anna Castillo will play the queen of Spain herself. Of course, it is not an unofficial biopic of Letizia Ortiz meeting Felipe but a comedy that will come signed by the minds behind Eight Basque Surnames and Eight Catalan Surnames and that is based on fictional characters.

Spain, year 2024. Pilar is a young Princess and future Queen of Spain who, suddenly and hastily, is forced to stay at the head of the institution after a scandal that affects her father, King Alfonso front line public for a few months. Pilar must show the country that she is not the irresponsible, insolent, lazy and useless person that everyone believes. The thing is that they may be right.

The series is created by Borja Cobeaga and Diego San José, screenwriters of the Eight Surnames films, who are in a good moment: Cobeaga has just signed the applauded I Don’t Like to Drive with Juan Diego Botto and Diego San José is in the middle production process of Celeste, a thriller inspired by the Shakira case with Carmen Machi in the leading role.

“Thanks to Prime Video, Diego and I can undertake our most ambitious project with His Majesty,” commented Borja Cobeaga. “Until now we had made films or series that were shown in bars and apartments. Here, by theme and size, we take a leap towards a comedy that takes place in a palace. The protagonist could be a normal girl, but you can’t be normal if you are the heir to the throne.”

His Majesty will have 7 episodes of 30 minutes long and has Ernesto Alterio as Royal Secretary.
