Andrea Levy, who was the Deputy Secretary of Studies and Programs of the Popular Party, has spoken for the first time about her relationship with the ‘indie’ singer Nacho Vegas, Christina Rosenvinge’s ex. A relationship whose rumors began back in late 2016, when the couple’s good harmony was discovered at a concert by the León Benavente group; and that despite the efforts of politics to deny them, it turned out to be very real.
A relationship that they insisted on denying so that it would not affect their political career – she, a deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia and a promise of the party; the indie singer-songwriter who supports the victims of evictions and took advantage of his interviews to attack the system – but they could not ignore what united them: music.
Seven years later, Andrea Levy not only talks about this relationship, but also confirms what its dramatic end was like. She has done it through her book, The Usefulness of This Pain, where she talks about everything she has been through in this last decade both personally and professionally. A story where the fibromyalgia she suffers from is the main protagonist, but whose development is intertwined with other details, such as her relationship with the Asturian composer.
He also speaks precisely about this romance during his visit to the Vanitatis interview podcast, La Mala Reputación, hosted by Nacho Gay. The politician is sincere like never before and talks about this part of his most personal life; a romance that was kept hidden by his career and that ended, in part, due to the consequences of his illness.
Andrea Levy sits down to talk with Nacho Gay in an exercise of absolute sincerity, in which she confesses that, during her courtship with the composer, she was addicted to benzodiazepines. The former culture councilor at the Madrid City Council took these substances to alleviate the pain of fibromyalgia, but it got out of hand. Her partner, for his part, used drugs, a fact publicly explained by Nacho Vegas himself.
“It is something that we have never talked about openly and I do it because it is part of this experience that I needed to tell. There is a moment in which, added to everything that happened to me professionally, I had to take care of another person who needed me “I couldn’t miss a day when Nacho wasn’t well, in case something happened to him,” explains Levy.
“People told me: ‘How good Nacho is since he’s with you!’; and I thought: ‘I can’t get any further.’ Then, there was a point where I thought: ‘To save him I also have to save me.’ That’s when I tell him: ‘I have to get out of here, otherwise we’ll both fall.’ It was important to me and now we have a great relationship and we talk almost daily. “, he assures.
The policy thus confirms not only her relationship with the Asturian musician, but also what led to their breakup, after more than two years of romance. However, going their separate ways was the right decision for both of them, as they seem to have managed to get out of their respective hells and maintain a great friendship.
