Luis Rubiales has decided to bring forward his return to Spain. The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will set foot on Spanish soil in a matter of a few hours, something that has surprised the specialized journalists who are covering the legal procedure investigating him and all those who follow the process closely.
Following the searches carried out by the Civil Guard at the federation headquarters within the framework of Operation Brody (which left five detainees in the capital and two in Granada), Rubiales announced that he would return to Spain next Saturday, April 6. However, he has anticipated his return.
Rubiales is being investigated for alleged irregular contracts that were carried out during his mandate. Among the alleged irregular documents, those that have to do with the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia and those regarding the renovation of La Cartuja in Seville stand out.
As soon as he sets foot on Spanish soil, the technician of Canarian origin will be arrested by the authorities. According to what has been learned, the flight the technician is on has left Punta Cana an hour and a half late, so it is scheduled to land at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport around 10:30 a.m.
The exclusive preview of Rubiales’ return to Spain was given last night by journalist Ana Pastor. The communicator was in the Dominican Republic because she had gone to interview the former president of the RFEF. As soon as she saw that he was at the airport waiting to catch the same flight as her and her team, she did not hesitate to contact the El Chiringuito program.
”I’m at the airport and we’re taking the flight back (…) Rubiales is here at the airport right now (…) Rubiales is returning to Spain. “I’m seeing him from where I am, he’s sitting at a table at the airport,” said the presenter via telephone connection.
Pastor had no idea that he would be taking the same return flight as Rubiales and, like the audience, he was surprised by the coach’s decision to bring forward his return to our country.
When Pedrerol asked her if she was sure he would take the same flight as her, she answered honestly: ”I would say yes. On the screen in front of me there are four flights: Panama City, San Juan, Bogotá or Madrid. It is understood that at the moment he is going to take the flight to Madrid (…)”.
