La Resistencia is no longer an entertainment space where David Broncano conducts surreal and funny interviews with the guests who dare to step on the stage of the Teatro Príncipe Gran Vía, in Madrid. Over time it has become a box of surprises where anything can happen while recording.
In fact, this format could become the place chosen by some fans to propose to their partner. And this is precisely what happened this Monday, when a young man yelled at Broncano from the stalls to get his attention. He had the best of reasons: he wanted to marry his girlfriend, which left the comedian most confused.
Just before Susana Abaitua, the guest actress this Monday in La Resistencia to present her new series El grito de las mariposas, from Disney and Star, entered, a person from the public who was in the stalls interrupted David Broncano. It was the beginning of the program.
“Pay me what you owe me!” The aforementioned shouted from his seat while David Broncano was stunned by such a claim. “What do I owe you?” The presenter replied. “The ring that you and I talked about,” assured the viewer. “What are you saying? What do you say?”, the comedian was surprised, who was trying to find an explanation by looking at a member of the team.
Then, the viewer revealed what he meant by that ring: “The wedding ring because I’m going to ask my girl to marry.” An announcement that drew applause from those present, including those of Broncano himself, while the protagonist threw her hands to her head. The theater cheered at the good news and the comedian even played his bass drum to celebrate it.
The couple went on stage and Broncano told the girlfriend: “From your reaction it seemed to me that this was real.” To which she replied: “I’m freaking out.” “We don’t normally do this, but you are given a moment,” the comedian told them. The boyfriend confessed that he “didn’t know how to do it so as not to put pressure on him, so I thought about doing it here.”
Next, and in order not to delay the moment any longer, the boyfriend told his girl: “Fat lady: do you want to marry me?” After her “of course”, the audience began to applaud and cheer while both melted into a passionate kiss and Broncano played the bass drum to the rhythm of the shout “Oe oe oe oe” of those present.
“My goodness, kid! This is incredible, every day we are closer to a Canal Sur program”, said Broncano in a humorous tone before wishing the couple luck.
