The community of Huétor-Tájar, in Granada, is shocked after the tragic event in which Pepe, a 72-year-old man, allegedly murdered his two grandchildren, aged 10 and 13, before taking his own life.
According to José Antonio, a close neighbor, this tragic outcome seemed unthinkable, since Pepe had recently taken his grandchildren to a fair and participated in a race with them.
“This looks like a script for a horror movie,” commented José Antonio on the program “And now Sonsoles.” The precedents that led to this tragedy began on March 19 with an accident in which Pepe’s wife and daughter, the children’s mother, died.
During the last few days, Pepe was active and attended the fair with his grandchildren, and participated with them in a race that took place a few days ago. José Antonio pointed out that Pepe lived with the children and his son-in-law, which indicated an apparent normality in his family life. “If there was any discrepancy, the father would have gone to live with his children somewhere else,” the neighbor stressed.
Following the fatal crash on March 19, in which Pepe suffered respiratory apnea while driving, causing a crash that killed his wife and daughter, he was banned from driving again. José Antonio mentioned that Pepe was deeply affected by the accident and blamed himself for the tragedy. Although he received psychological support for two months, the idea of ??committing suicide persisted in his mind.
The neighbor also noted that there were rumors that Pepe had driven again with his grandchildren, which had caused tensions with the children’s father. “At the funeral, we all worried about how Pepe would take it and that he might do something crazy, since he blamed himself for what happened,” added José Antonio.
This sad ending has left the community in a state of shock, unable to understand how someone who showed signs of leading a normal life could go to such an extreme.
