The modus operandi of Carmen, the alleged scammer, was to create different profiles on social networks to publish various rental advertisements for the homes where she worked. With complete naturalness, this woman recorded all the rooms of the house to show them to those interested. Once she finds the future tenant, she collects the deposit for the apartment and disappears without a trace.
The alleged scammer has been reported by seven victims in the last three months. ”When he finished cleaning I had to clean it again because I hadn’t left it properly. “I wasn’t very satisfied, but I trusted,” declared one of her victims.
However, when he returned home days later he found a person inside his apartment. ”I had taken advantage of the half hour I was away to run to make a copy of the key. She also made a whole video of the apartment and photos. And the next day she put the ad on the internet. When I arrived I met a young guy who told me that he had been scammed for sure. “He told me that he had rented it yesterday,” he claimed.
At one point in the Antena 3 program, the team connected live with their partner Carmen Millán, who was with Antonio, one of Carmen’s victims. The interviewee preferred to conduct the interview with his back turned for fear of possible reprisals from this alleged scammer who is at large.
”She was a close, loving person and at no time did I doubt her because of her attitude, she was very kind,” he began by saying. Antonio revealed that they even gave him 500 euros to reserve the house. ”She was occupied and she told us that until she left the tenant we would not occupy her. After a month he came, the lease was signed and we gave him another 500 euros to start living,’ he declared.
However, Antonio could not see the house after depositing another 500 euros because he was told that “they had disinfected it and it was not healthy to go.” ”After a month he gave us the keys and we couldn’t open either the gate to the development or the gate. A neighbor came down and we asked. She told us that a boy lived in the house. There we got angry and went to the police to file a complaint,” he said.
Weeks later, Antonio received a call from the police to inform him that Carmen had been arrested and was being brought to justice. ”She was released and yesterday news came out that she had scammed again,” said the interviewee.
In addition, the program’s reporter said that they had had the opportunity to speak with the alleged scammer. ”Without my lawyer I’m not going to say anything, I come from work and this is harassment, they have threatened to kill me, they have punctured the tires of my car. If I have done it or I have not done it, I am the one who has to pay because what they are doing to me is not normal, it is inhumane,” Carmen declared. ”She is a compulsive liar,” Antonio stressed after hearing his words.
