Powerball players in New Jersey missed out on Wednesday’s $435.3 million jackpot but one ticket sold in the state is worth $2 million.
The second-prize ticket was sold at News Day, a newsstand on the 100 block of Mulberry Street in Newark, state lottery officials said Thursday.
15 largest lottery jackpot winners in history
It matched five numbers but not the Powerball and is the fifth Powerball ticket sold in New Jersey this year worth at least $1 million.
The player spent an extra $1 for the Powerplay option and doubled the winnings.
Other $1 million Powerball tickets this year have been sold in Wrightstown, Tenafly, Oakhurst, and Woodbridge.
Wednesday’s jackpot winning ticket, the 10th largest in U.S. lottery history, was sold in Lafaytte, Ind.
Saturday’s jackpot rolls back to $40 million with a cash option of $24.2 million.
The odds of a single Powerball ticket hitting the jackpot are more than 292 million to 1. Players have roughly a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to win at least $1 million.
Tickets for the twice-weekly game can be bought in 44 states, Washington D.C, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
