Orlando-based timeshare company Wyndham Vacation Ownership announced a new president and CEO Monday, Michael D. Brown.
Brown has been chief operating officer of competitor Hilton Grand Vacations (NYSE: HGV), also based in Orlando.
The former timeshare CEO for Wyndham, Franz Hanning, announced in November he was stepping aside. The company later revealed Hanning received severance payment of $3.4 million, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Wyndham’s timeshare company, part of Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN), reports 219 resorts and more than 887,000 owners globally.
Wyndham claims to be the first company that offered a points system, as opposed to deeds, which has become the standard across the industry.
Wyndham also claims to be the world’s largest vacation ownership business, as measured by the number of vacation ownership resorts, individual vacation ownership units and owners of vacation ownership interests.
The company develops, markets and sells vacation ownership interests and provides consumer financing to owners through its seven primary consumer brands: Club Wyndham, WorldMark by Wyndham, Club Wyndham Asia, WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham, Shell Vacations Club, Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham and Wyndham Club Brasil.
