Chinese brands have an increasing presence in the automobile market in Spain. The quality-price ratio offered by cars from companies from the Asian giant is capturing the attention of consumers, positioning them as an increasingly attractive option when purchasing a new vehicle.
Brands like BYD, DFSK or MG are making their way in an increasingly competitive market. The relevance of Chinese firms is reflected in the slow but sustained sales growth and the historic milestone achieved by MG by making the MG ZS the sales leader in Spain in the month of August.
The success obtained by the firm of British origin and with 100% Chinese capital this summer is a clear indication that Chinese brands are consolidating their position in the Spanish market and are ready to compete solidly in the automotive sector in the future.
The aspirations of Chinese manufacturers are to carve out a niche in all segments, and not just in the most affordable vehicles. In the commitment of Polestar – a firm belonging to the Geely group – and BYD to conquer the premium and luxury segment, they will soon be joined by MG – which has announced the launch of a sports car worth almost 70,000 euros for the summer of 2024 – and Voyah. This last company, belonging to the Dongfeng group, will soon arrive in our country to compete directly with BMW, Mercedes or Audi.
Voyah, a company with only three years of history, aims to become a reference brand in the high-end car segment in Europe. The Voyah Free, an electric SUV with more than 500 kilometers of autonomy, is called to be the key that opens the door to this market niche and challenges other more established brands.
Measuring 4.91 m long, 1.95 m wide and 1.65 m high, and with a wheelbase of 2.96 m, the Voyah Free is a mid-size SUV that offers an exceptional balance between space interior and maneuverability in urban and road environments. It impresses not only with its stylized exterior design, but also with the spaciousness of its cabin, where special efforts have been made to take care of the experience on board.
The arrangement of the elements and their ergonomic design create an interior space that translates into comfort and versatility for all occupants. The high-quality materials and carefully selected finishes create a sophisticated and pleasant atmosphere, while the seating arrangement and the abundant natural light received from the outside provide a greater feeling of spaciousness.
However, above all, the dashboard stands out, made up of three 12.3-inch screens each. Each one of them fulfills a specific function: dashboard, infotainment and a third exclusive for the co-pilot to regulate the climate control and the seat.
The Voyah Free combines elegance and discretion with a timeless design. The chrome stands out on the large front grille and on the lower splitter, and its 20-inch wheels with a 16-spoke design evoke the turbine of a light aircraft. In search of greater aerodynamic efficiency, flush handles and a neutral silhouette have been incorporated.
The model is equipped with a propulsion system that combines two electric motors with a total power of 489 HP and a maximum torque of 720 Nm. The battery comes from a 106 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides up to 505 kilometers of range on a single charge. It reaches a top speed of 200 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
The exact date on which Voyah will put its Free model on sale in Spain is still unknown. You will probably do so once you have defined the final price of the vehicle, which according to various sources could range between 80,000 and 85,000 euros.
