Sales of Toyota Motor Corp.’s full-size Tundra pickup truck fell by nearly 13 percent in February while sales for its midsize Tacoma rose slightly, following weak performance in January.

Sales of the full-size Tundra pickup fell by 1,067 units, or 12.9 percent, to 7,234, compared with 8,301 Tundras sold in February 2016. Tundra sales fell 8.4 percent year-over-year in January and were down 2.9 percent in 2016.

Sales for the company’s Tacoma midsize pickup rose by less than 1 percent in February to 14,256 trucks compared with sales of 14,172 in February 2016. The Tacoma — which sold nearly 180,000 units in the U.S. in 2016 — is coming off of a January decrease of 1.6 percent, the first year-over-year sales drop for the pickup since August 2014.

Americans’ set a record in 2016 when they bought 17.6 million vehicles, the seventh consecutive year of growth. Analysts are predicting the U.S. auto market will be unable to maintain the high sales, which were driven in part by generous incentives programs that appear to be cutting into automakers’ bottom lines.
