When we think of big construction, one country comes to mind: United Arab Emirates. After building the tallest skyscraper in the world, it could again witness a milestone in terms of infrastructure. The company National Advisor Bureau Limited, based in Masdar, intends to create a huge tunnel linking the port areas of the United Arab Emirates and India.

According to some media, this project would unite both countries via submarine with the aim of expanding relations and opening a direct link, thus reinforcing the influence of the Asian continent in the rest of the world. Currently, it is in the concept phase, although it is undoubtedly a promising project on an international scale.

As indicated by the analysis studies, this tunnel proposes a deep megastructure, directly linking the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the rest of the countries that make up the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf with India. It would also connect Fujairah (a city in the northwest of the UAE) with Mumbai (India) separated by about 1,800 kilometers.

The National Advisor Bureau has created a series of infographics to clearly reflect the idea: this underwater tunnel, which would enter the Gulf of Oman, would consist of two parallel concrete pipelines moored to various floating structures. The team of professionals is also considering the option of tying them to the bottom of the sea.

This tunnel could be used to transport people, both tourists and workers, as well as strategic goods and supplies. In this way, each conduit would be divided into four large groups: the one for trains, the one for goods and two lower ones for oil or gas and the flow of water. It would also export excess water from the Narmada river, which often overflows after the monsoon season.

This tunnel would have an internal vacuum that would allow the use of faster railways, reaching up to 1,000 kilometers per hour. Considering that Mumbai and Fujairah are separated by a distance of 1,800 kilometers, this journey could take between two and four hours. Without a doubt, this ambitious project would improve the transit of people between the two countries, as well as bilateral trade between the nations.
