They register two cars in his name that are not headquarters and they end up seizing his account for the fines: "It's very Kafkaesque"

After a trip to Ibiza in October 2021, Nacho had a rather unpleasant surprise. During her stay on the island, she had been detained by the police and, out of curiosity, she looked to the DGT to see if they had taken any points off her license. He confirmed that it was not, however, he was speechless when he saw that he had a Mercedes registered in his name that was not his.

As he explained in “The Container” of El Món RAC1, Nacho approached the Girona delegation of the DGT to explain what was happening to him, but they told him that they could not cancel that vehicle. The problem, as they excused themselves, is that the button they have only allows them to deregister a car “if it has been stolen, sold or scrapped.” And, of course, since he doesn’t want to admit that the car is his, he can’t report it stolen.

The Mossos d’Esquadra admitted the complaint he filed, and explained to him that it was probably identity theft, but that they had to investigate it. However, the police assure that they need a court order to investigate it, and the Blanes court to which they explained it in December 2021 has not issued this order either.

Furthermore, the problem did not end there, and shortly after, he realized that a second car had been registered in his name. This time it was a Peugeot, and it wasn’t his either. Currently, both cars remain their property and in these three years “I have received two circulation and CO? emissions taxes from each vehicle.”

Nacho also explains that he has received “fines of any color you want. From Italy, even.” A fine that he had to appeal through a certified letter that he had to translate and send to the transalpine country.

But the worst thing is that, despite having appealed all the taxes and fines to the City Council and the Regional Council, finally the non-payment of one of the taxes has caused the seizure of the payroll. In 2022 they had paralyzed one, but the Administration does not recognize that it continues to have the same problem, and now it has taken the right route. “I try to explain to them that the problem is the same as in 2022 and that it persists,” Nacho laments.

Following Nacho’s public denunciation in “El Contener”, many people have written in the program to explain similar situations. In fact, David Sala has added to the conversation to say that he has had two or three cars registered in his name. He has had to pay taxes, lawyers and a solicitor: “Everything is Kafkaesque.”
