Change to the controls of a leading Spanish company in the rest sector. This Tuesday, the board of directors of the mattress manufacturer Pikolin approved the appointment of Álvaro Soláns as the new president, replacing his father, Alfonso.

With the elevation of the third generation to the presidency “the handover process established in the company’s succession protocol culminates,” as explained in a press release.

The change, already programmed, takes place the year in which the 75th anniversary of its foundation is celebrated by Alfonso Soláns Serrano, who died in 1996 and who was, like his son later, owner and president of the Real Zaragoza football club.

Now it is his grandson Álvaro who takes the reins of the firm after having accumulated 15 years of experience in various areas of the firm.

From his new position, he will be responsible for implementing the new strategic plan, “aimed at promoting and consolidating the international expansion of the company”, which has production centers in Spain and France -countries where it is the market leader- as well as in Brazil and Southeast Asia.

Pikolin is in the final phase of designing this new plan, which is scheduled to be presented in the coming weeks.

“I want to thank the board, and especially my father and brother, for the support and trust placed in me,” said the new president, whose brother Borja is vice president and head of the Asian business.

“I have lived Pikolin since my childhood and I have always thought that I would dedicate my life to developing the legacy of my father and my grandfather, looking to the future with enthusiasm but learning from the past”, he added.

His father and predecessor, Alfonso Soláns, who has been named honorary president of the group, was convinced that this is the right time to tackle this new stage.

“According to our family protocol, and from responsibility and conviction, making this transition a reality is the culmination of my commitment to the Pikolín group, which I will always carry in my heart,” he said.
