Approximately five years ago, the legendary American firm Harley-Davidson tried to make a name for itself in the electric motorcycle sector, being one of the first firms of its size to do so. What had to be its first model was named LiveWire and, although it was tried, it was not mass marketed under that name.
However, this name was kept to, in 2021, create a separate brand that has since become the electric division of Harley-Davidson. Until just a few days ago, the firm’s emission-free range was made up of only two alternatives. On the one hand, there was the One (which is the successor to the initial LiveWire) and the S2 Del Mar, which was the first model born completely under the new banner.
While the One is offered in a single version, the S2 Del Mar comes in two different variants, the standard and the so-called LE. From now on, the possibilities grow with the arrival of the new S2 Mulholland, a high-performance ‘cruiser’ motorcycle that is characterized by a design clearly differentiated from its brand counterparts.
The vehicle is equipped with a 10.5 kWh battery that allows a range of around 194 km in the city or around 117 km when driving at higher speeds on the highway. Depending on the type of charger used, it should be noted that the recharging process may require only 1 hour and 18 minutes to go from 20 to 80% battery.
The performance level is one of the strong points of the S2 Mulholland, since the electric motor that it integrates allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. This engine develops a power of 62 kW (equivalent to 85 HP) and a maximum torque of 263 Nm.
One of the objectives of the North American firm has been to conceive its new electric motorcycle based on its commitment to the environment beyond its emission-free operation. For this, sustainable and ecological materials have been used.
In this sense, it is worth noting that the fenders are made of hemp biocomposites and that certain cables are produced using nylon from recycled fishing nets. In addition, silicone (petroleum-free) is used for the seat instead of leather or vinyl.
Among the particularities of the latest LiveWire novelty is a design designed so that the driver is in a more upright position than in the other two models of the brand. The motorcycle, which weighs 196 kg, rides on Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart IV tires associated with 19-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch wheels at the rear.
