Ford Set to Unveil New Electric SUV in Cologne

Ford is gearing up to reveal its latest all-electric model in Cologne, Germany on 10 July. While the new vehicle is expected to be named the Capri, official confirmation is still pending. What is known, however, is that it will be an electric SUV built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform.

During a recent factory visit, Ford hinted that the new sports crossover will be produced alongside the Explorer on the same assembly line in the Cologne plant. Production is estimated to be between one third and two thirds of the Explorer’s output, with the capacity to manufacture up to 250,000 units annually of both models in three shifts. Initial production will commence on two shifts.

Competing in the electric SUV market, the new Ford model will face off against rivals such as the Volkswagen ID.5, Skoda Enyaq, Smart #3, Volvo C40 Recharge, Nissan Ariya, and Renault Megane E-Tech. While pricing details have not been disclosed, Automotive News Europe speculates that the starting price could be approximately €42,500 (around £36,000). The vehicle is expected to be available for order by the end of the year, with more information on pricing to be revealed towards the end of summer.

Enthusiasts and consumers alike can look forward to the unveiling in July and stay tuned for updates on the Ford Capri’s specifications and pricing.
