When thinking of a high-performance motorcycle, most users will quickly think of combustion engine alternatives. However, the two-wheeled electric mobility industry is already giving birth to proposals capable of surprising people due to their remarkable features, such as the new Ego, developed by the Italian firm Energica.

The brand’s range is made up of four models, the Experia, the Eva Ribelle, the EsseEsse9 and the Ego, which we will focus on in this article. To get an idea of ??the characteristics of the vehicle we are referring to, we must bear in mind that Energica describes it as “the most efficient electric motorcycle in the world”.

It only takes a quick look at the Ego to appreciate that this is a bike with a racing soul. It stands out for a modern design that exudes speed and high performance on all four sides. It has a wheelbase of 147 cm and a height of 117 cm (with a height to the seat of 81 cm). On the other hand, its weight is 260 kg, although it is designed so that all those kilos really go unnoticed when it is running.

The engine, the core of the motorcycle’s performance, offers a power of 126 kW and a maximum torque of 222 Nm. A priori, these figures may not seem too spectacular, but everything changes if we take into account the almost instantaneous response of the acceleration, since the Energica novelty only needs 2.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and is capable of reaching 240 km/h top speed.

For those who cannot get enough of these extraordinary features, the Italian brand offers a higher version than the standard, called Ego RS, which can accelerate even faster due to a series of software modifications and certain adjustments to the running gear. The result is a drop of two tenths in the 0-100, which is completed in a brilliant 2.6 seconds.

The firm’s engineers have worked hard to achieve a significantly low center of gravity for maximum agility. Among the innovative equipment of the Ego stands out its adaptive control, a system that allows different parameters to be selected to adapt to variable conditions. Among them are torque, speed, driving mode and temperature.

The motor is powered by a 21.5 kWh lithium polymer battery that allows an amazing range of up to 420 km (identical in both versions, Ego and Ego RS). The great performance of the model has elements at the same height such as a Marzocchi front suspension or front and rear Brembo brakes.

Among the possibilities that the driver has to choose the behavior of the motorcycle are four driving modes called Urban, Eco, Rain and Sport. As for the price, this Italian electric wonder starts at 31,551 euros. If you want to see the vehicle in full action you can do it in the video that accompanies this article.
