Although, in the past, the design of off-road cars was a secondary factor far behind the importance of their off-road qualities, today the situation has clearly evolved. And aesthetics plays a much more fundamental role when choosing a car, regardless of the sector we are referring to. The same thing happens with electrification, an option that continues to gain prominence in new developments on four wheels.
From these premises are born proposals as striking as the new Callum Skye, which is characterized by an impressive and futuristic aesthetic combined with extraordinary country capabilities. To begin with, it should be noted that it is the first vehicle to come directly from the brand founded by Ian Stuart Callum, a prestigious British designer who has worked for brands such as Ford, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Land Rover, among others.
After his long career collaborating with numerous manufacturers, he now enters the sector fully on his own with his own firm, called Callum Designs. Although it is a label specialized in unique or limited edition vehicles, it has now taken the step towards what will be its first production model created entirely by the brand.
According to the company, it is a high-performance electric vehicle, with all-wheel drive and designed to meet the demands of a variety of terrains, while offering a comfortable ride on asphalt. It is a compact alternative, with a really careful aerodynamic level and offering space for four occupants, distributed in a 2 2 configuration.
The vehicle measures 4.05 m long and 1.90 m wide and has a chassis, suspension and tires designed to offer optimal results on different types of terrain, whether sand, mud, rocks or snow. Therefore, it will be ideal for lovers of sports in the middle of nature. It has a 42 kWh battery that provides an estimated range of about 270 km.
In addition, it will be possible to optionally request the high-performance version of said battery, which will allow ultra-fast charging. The lightness of the vehicle is surprising, since it only weighs 1,150 kg, which contributes to its excellent performance, as it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.
It must be considered that the version that Callum Designs has shown is still in the prototype phase. However, the brand assures that the engineering tests are very advanced and that the launch of the Skye ready to roll on streets and roads will take place next spring. At the moment, more details are unknown but it is evident that it will be a top-level electric off-roader.
The approximate price level of the vehicle has also not been reported. While we wait for this information to be revealed in the coming months, we can enjoy everything this electric novelty is capable of doing in motion by taking a look at the exciting video that accompanies this article.
