An incident on the Rande Bridge has generated significant complications in the circulation of the AP-9 towards Vigo, this Thursday, February 22. A vehicle has caught fire, triggering the intervention of emergency services and causing traffic jams on the highway, although fortunately no victims have been reported.
The events occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. at kilometer 147 of the Atlantic Highway. Several individuals have alerted CIAE 112, reporting the fire in the vehicle in question. Immediately, the O Morrazo firefighters, the Local Police and the Civil Guard have moved to the scene to attend to the emergency.
Although the car was completely burned, the driver managed to escape unharmed. This fact has been confirmed by 112, highlighting that no personal injuries have been recorded as a result of the incident.
According to reports, the car was traveling in the direction of O Morrazo-Vigo on the outside lane of the Rande Bridge when the fire broke out. Although the flames were extinguished around 8:40 a.m., the presence of the burning vehicle caused outages and difficulties in access to nearby cities.
The rapid response of the O Morrazo Firefighters and the collaboration of the Civil Guard have allowed the situation to be controlled and traffic gradually restored on the highway. However, some congestion has been reported at the accesses to the towns of Domaio and Vilaboa as a result of the incident.
It is also worth noting that circulation has also been affected by the adverse weather conditions, with the presence of rain and fog in the area. Around 10:00 a.m., traffic flow was restored on the Rande Bridge.
