A week ago the auction of a unique piece for the history of cycling opened. The bike used by a Tour de France winner, but not just any winner. It was the very same bike that Miguel Induráin used to take his fourth Tour in 1994.
The auction, open to everyone, quickly rose in price and the experts from Catawiki, the portal that auctioned it, valued the product between 50,000 and 75,000 euros. It seemed that these figures could be reached easily, but the bidding stalled and the final price ended up being lower.
Finally, the mythical bicycle has been sold for 39,000 euros, of course, a price within the possibilities of very few. Despite not meeting the expectations of experts, the figure is still exorbitant.
The bike is completely original and this has been confirmed both by Banesto, the team where Induráin was a member at that time, and by Pinarello, the bike’s builder who took care of corroborating the frame number. A unique piece with an incalculable historical value that already has a new owner.
