Most cyclists and lovers of urban trends are probably familiar with the prestigious Brompton bike brand and the type of urban mobility products they make. What perhaps not all of them know is that, since 2016, the London firm has been developing its folding bicycles together with another team in the sector: CHPT3, an exclusive cycling clothing brand specializing in products such as jackets, shoes, jerseys or tights.

The frame of the bike, patented by Brompton since it began its journey in 1975, is its hallmark of differential design with respect to the rest of folding bikes. Apart from being able to be ridden by any cyclist, including those of greater weight and size, the bike can be folded in a jiffy and reduced to the minimum expression to transport it by weight as if it were a cart.

Its most recent novelty is the baptized Brompton x CHPT3 4th Edition, a proposal that brings together the best of worlds. On the one hand, the technological innovations of a folding city bike with even smaller wheels to ensure more agile maneuvers and extraordinarily light weight. And, on the other, the unmistakable style and elegance of a firm like CHPT3.

The minimalist Brompton x CHPT3 4th Edition features a small frame, high-performance details, four speeds and weighs just 9.5kg (2kg less than a conventional Brompton Line A). This has been achieved thanks to its handmade titanium and steel frame.

High-performance modifications have been added such as the titanium fork and rear triangle, which have been assembled to reach high speeds without losing an ounce of comfort. The Brompton 4-speed drivetrain is super light and compact, with a derailleur weighing just 60 grams. It has been built to cover all urban needs, from quick acceleration to sustained speed or steep grades.

All contact points between the rider and the bike, and between the bike and the asphalt provide lightness, performance and comfort. Even the Tubolito inner tubes in Schwalbe One tires are even lighter. The tires are designed and tested to withstand daily use in the city in all weathers. It is a bike made to last.

The short profile saddle responds to the gravel philosophy, which is why it is based on excellent vibration absorption. This gives the rider a stable yet comfortable position, as the ergonomic design minimizes pressure on sensitive parts of the body. This element has ingenious drainage channels that allow it to be mounted in wet weather without getting soaked.

Another novelty is the limited edition small bag for the frame, which is inspired by the urban lifestyle of young people. It’s the perfect size for a spare tube and tools. Like the bicycle, it is minimalist, practical and durable.

The Brompton x CHPT3 4th Edition is available in gray with red details and can already be purchased for a price of 3,150 euros. If it catches your attention, in the attached video you will find more specifications of the new folding bike.
