The Andersen firm hires Manel Maragall and Rafael Ortiz in the tax and labor areas

Andersen has incorporated Manel Maragall and Rafael Ortiz into the fiscal and labor teams, respectively. These new additions represent another step in the firm’s commitment to expanding its presence in Barcelona.

Manel Maragall has more than 30 years of experience, in which he has specialized in the tax structuring of real estate investments in Spain and abroad. Likewise, he has experience in mergers and corporate reorganizations and in public-private collaborations for the financing of public infrastructures.

After his time at Arthur Andersen, he developed his professional career at Garrigues, where he was partner responsible for the real estate tax area and the public sector and concessions. He has been president of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Barcelona during the period 2013-2016, as well as a member of the executive committee in recent decades.

For his part, Rafael Ortiz has a work history of more than 30 years. He specializes in workforce restructuring, collective bargaining and collective decentralization processes.

Throughout his professional career, he has been the partner responsible for the labor department of Garrigues for more than 20 years and, previously, general director of labor relations of the Generalitat. Likewise, he has also worked in the State Organization of the Labor and Social Security Inspection, he has been a professor of Law at the University of Barcelona and the University of Navarra, founder and first president of the Labor Court of Catalonia.
