The first Silence S04, the electric minicars from Silence, an Acciona subsidiary, have begun to roll off the assembly line of the plant located in the Zona Franca in Barcelona. The company, which reported at the last Barcelona Motor Show that production of this vehicle had begun, occupies part of the land of the old Nissan factory, which closed its doors permanently in December 2021.

In May, the CEO of Silence, Carlos Sotelo, assured that they expected to produce between 2,000 and 3,000 units of this minicar this year. The sale to individuals is planned from September.

The S04 is the first four-wheel electric vehicle from Silence, a two-seater with a removable electric battery that will be marketed at a starting price of 8,000 euros. At the Franca plant, everything goes from the construction of the chassis and the painting to the assembly of all the components. Likewise, it is expected that the facility will house the manufacture of batteries in the future, which are currently being produced at the plant that the company has in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

This small-sized vehicle is designed to move with the agility of a motorcycle through the city. As announced by the company, which employs about 280 employees, the first half a thousand units will be delivered to a car rental company, and expects to reach a production of about 40,000 cars within three to four years.

In addition to housing Silence, the land previously occupied by the former Nissan factory is expected to become an electromobility hub led by QEV Technologies and Btech, which will be in charge of reindustrializing the area and starting to produce electric vehicles.
