BELLMAWR — A medical marijuana dispensary in the borough is leading the state in both production and sales of medical cannabis.
A report the state Department of Health released this month shows that Compassionate Sciences at 111 Coolidge Ave. produced the most cannabis at 885 pounds.
It also had more patients than any of the other four dispensaries at 2,762. That’s a quarter of the roughly 10,800 enrollees statewide, according to the report.
Compassionate Sciences Operations Manager Craig West told Philly.com that he thinks the big sales are because it is the only dispensary in New Jersey allowed to offer cannabis extracts in the form of lozenges.

He told the news site that the extracts make up between 20 and 30 percent of purchases and many patients travel from North Jersey to get them. West
Philly.com reported that two other dispensaries have submitted applications to sell extracts, but a spokeswoman for the Department of health said the applications were not “active.”
The next busiest dispensary in New Jersey was in Woodbridge, which sold 691 pounds to 2,687 people.
The report showed that Breakwater in Cranbury dispensed 494 pounds to 2,068 people, the Compassionate Care Foundation in Egg Harbor sold 451 pounds to 1,527 people, and the Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair sold 172.5 pounds to 1,288 patients.
