The u.s. PGA Tour cancels all the golf tournaments up to the beginning of april.
It informs the organization on the night of Friday Danish time. It writes the news agency Reuters.
The ongoing tournament, The Players Championship is cancelled after the first round because of the fear of the infectious coronavirus.
Also cancelled the next three tournaments.
– It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of The the Players Championship and all the events and with the Valero Texas Open, writes the PGA Tour on Twitter.
All golfers have received a message where they are informed of the cancellation, which is due to a ‘drastic change in the situation’.
In a press release informs the organization:
– We have done everything we could to create a safe environment for our players to be able to conduct the tournament over the weekend, and we have tried to give our fans a much needed break from the current situation.
– But, at the present time – and as the situation is rapidly changing – is the right thing to do for our players and fans to take a break.
Earlier Thursday said that the last three rounds of The Players Championship would be held without spectators.
Aflysningerne means that there is no PGA tournaments before the season’s first majorturnering, US Masters, scheduled to begin 9. april.
