After 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, the bullfighter Ángel Téllez completed his challenge of ascending the Peñas Negras de Mora castle (Toledo) by bicycle 63 times, equivalent to the height of Everest, to raise funds for the Luzón Foundation and support ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) research.
In total, there have been almost 21 continuous hours of challenge (since six in the morning on Saturday) of which 18 hours and 36 minutes have been pedaling to complete the distance of 313.94 kilometers and a cumulative difference in altitude of 8,850 meters, two above the height of Everest, his team explained to EFE.
The challenge has been called ‘Everesting quality of life for all ALS patients (they have an affected family member) and for the families and professionals who are at their side.
Téllez already has previous experiences of challenges to obtain support for ALS and, thus, in 2022 he did the Camino de Santiago by bicycle from Mora (750 kilometers) and managed to raise nearly 15,000 euros.
Furthermore, on the 8th there will be a solidarity day in Villanueva de Bogas (Toledo), the proceeds of which will be donated entirely to the Foundation, just like last year, when about 500 people attended and 5,000 euros were raised.
The ‘Everesting Xella’ fundraising campaign for the Luzón Foundation will remain active during the Christmas holidays.
