Reus’ public bike sharing system, La Ganxeta, will debut on January 10 with a service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In this first phase, La Ganxeta will have 250 bicycles and 21 stations distributed throughout the urban layout.

The maintenance workshop, already operational at number 17 Carrer de Joan Martell, will be the reference point of La Ganxeta. From this center, the distribution of bicycles to stations will be coordinated, as well as the maintenance and repair of the vehicles to guarantee their good condition.

In the coming weeks, tests will be intensified with the bikes on the street and the application developed specifically for their operation, validating reliability and perfecting the last details of the system. The public bicycle will be coordinated from the Central Control Center of Reus Mobilitat y Serveis, and through the GANXETA application, the entire operation will be regulated.

The service wants to be easy and convenient to use, for this reason users must download the application and follow just three steps: register, choose the rate and search on the map for the nearest station to reserve a bicycle. Through the same application, they can remove it from the anchor point and start pedaling.

The user will know in real time the location and availability of all the bicycles at each station, being able to choose and pick up the desired bicycle. At the end of the journey, they will be able to park the bicycle at any station in the network, ensuring that it is well anchored for a correct return and finishing the trip.

The service will have three different types of subscription depending on age, the most expensive for 9 euros per month. It will also be possible to use the service for 24 hours for only 1 euro. La Ganxeta is a project framed within the NextGeneratuon EU aid and its objective is clear: to encourage the population of Reus to get on the bike more.
