Jaecoo, the new Chinese automobile firm that will arrive in Spain in 2024, has presented its second model internationally, the Jaecoo 8. It is a large 7-seater SUV, which measures 482 centimeters long (282 cm correspond to the wheelbase), 193 cm wide and 1.71 cm high.
At the design level, it has clean and fluid lines, with a wide hood, a rising belt line, very marked wheel arches and retractable door handles. The roof can be body-colored or black to create a two-tone exterior. The rear part has LED headlights designed in 3D that run the entire width of the rear. The rear hatch gives access to the trunk, whose maximum load capacity can reach 2,021 liters.
The interior, with a dashboard that mounts a 24.6-inch curved central screen, wants to convey the feeling of luxury. Hence, a material that imitates natural wood has been used. The spacious front row seats have multiple electrical adjustments, as well as heating, ventilation and massage functions. The Nappa leather-upholstered interior and matte black headliner convey a very exclusive appearance.
The multi-zone intelligent climate system automatically adjusts based on the needs of passengers. The 14-speaker SONY surround sound system, 255-color waterfall rhythm ambient lighting and other luxurious specifications ensure that passengers make the most of every moment of their journey. The brand assures that when running it is a very quiet specimen, thanks to the double glazing and the careful soundproofing work.
The initial mechanical range of the Jaecco 8 has two versions, one gasoline and another PHEV plug-in hybrid. The first is powered by a 2.0TGDI engine that develops 183 kW (249 HP) and 385 Nm. The other combines the 1.5TGDI -specific for fifth generation hybrids- with two electric motors (one on each axle). In total, it develops a power of 445 kW (597 HP) and torque of 915 Nm. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 5.4 seconds.
Equipped with the All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS), it has seven driving modes to adapt to all types of conditions, including sand, mud and snow. It also has a vector AWD control system that allows the torque of the rear wheels to be distributed from 0% to 100%, in real time, depending on road conditions. This system improves stability at high speed, improves traction efficiency and reduces your turning radius when cornering.
It should be noted that the Jaecoo 8 is the brand’s first SUV equipped with an active suspension CDC (Continuous Damping Control). Using real-time information from 15 sensors – including accelerometers, steering wheel angle and ABS status – the CDC actively adjusts the suspension stiffness to stabilize the vehicle’s position, both on the road and in steep mountain terrain, offering a most comfortable driving experience.
In terms of safety, it has advanced driving assistance systems, reinforced with an ultra-wide viewing angle formed by a combination of 360° cameras around the vehicle and a 180° camera on the chassis, which eliminates blind spots.
