Sometimes, in the world of motorsport, various passions come together to give rise to unique examples that go beyond convention and are capable of clearly attracting attention. One of these proposals is, without a doubt, the one that is the subject of this article. This is a 2022 Ford GT that pays tribute to the legendary American basketball player Michael Jordan and his legendary Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers.
It should be noted that Ford did not release this specific second-generation GT variant. And this example of the supercar, with serial number N085, integrates a unique decoration that its Canadian owner designed with the specialists of the Multimatic firm. Most of the car’s exterior has been redone and is carbon fiber.
In terms of tones, it is mostly finished in Nadal Red, while using Frozen White on the doors and hood, and Gloss Black on the lower body moldings and wheels. The result, therefore, manages to recreate the legendary “Chicago” color combination used by the first Air Jordan sneakers when they made their debut in 1984.
This color mix is ??also carried over to the interior of the car. The main color of the two-seat cabin is black, but each seat is divided in two by a red and white stripe, while other elements such as seat belts and steering column-mounted gear shift paddles are reds.
It should not be overlooked that the car, which comes loaded with more than 84,000 euros in extras, also integrates the so-called Ford Design Kit and even includes the real color samples that the owner of the car and the specialists who carried out the customization used in the process. Keep in mind that the color combination is not the only thing worth mentioning about this GT.
The supercar is inspired by Ford’s most famous racing car, the GT40, which completely dominated the podium at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. In production from 2016 to 2022, the car is powered by a 3.5 biturbo EcoBoost engine V6 with 647 HP and 745 Nm of maximum torque sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Thanks to the aforementioned mechanical combination, the vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 348 km/h. It is not surprising, therefore, that this Ford model won in its category at Le Mans in 2016.
