BYD has recently started its activities in the Spanish market. It is a young brand, founded in 1995 and landed in Europe in 1998. Currently, it operates in seventy countries and has sold more than 3.7 million electric vehicles.

The Han is defined as a large sedan aimed at the premium market, that is, representation vehicles, usually dominated by prestigious brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes or Volvo. Competing with these manufacturers is not easy, but BYD has put everything on the table.

Its dimensions are overwhelming: 4.99 m long, 1.91 m wide and 1.49 m high. The wheelbase of 2.92 m allows you to enjoy a large cabin, with plenty of distance between the rows of seats.

The exterior image is striking, a combination of elegance and aerodynamics. In fact, its cx coefficient is 0.23, a very outstanding value. As is the norm in electric cars, the front grill is closed, as there is no need for cooling. We also liked details such as the flush door handles and the rear drop of the roof, with a certain coupé aroma.

The interior is very spacious and has been equipped with high quality materials. In this sense, without being on par with its German rivals, it does not disappoint at all. Occupants can enjoy Nappa leather seats, aluminum details, different trims, etc.

The driving position is excellent, with multiple regulations that allow you to find the most appropriate driving position. The 12.3-inch instrument panel offers all the necessary information and the large 15.6-inch central screen has a complete set of information. A differentiating detail is that it is a screen that can be positioned vertically or horizontally, at the driver’s discretion. The information chapter is completed with the Head Up Display reflected on the windshield.

The rear seats are ideal for traveling with extraordinary comfort. There is outstanding legroom and in the right seat a control can be used to advance the passenger seat and enjoy greater space. BYD focuses its efforts on achieving maximum comfort for the vehicle’s occupants, partially sacrificing the trunk, a space that is made up of 410 liters of useful volume.

The Han is equipped with two electric motors that allow four-wheel drive. The sum of both translates into a maximum power of 517 HP, capable of achieving extraordinary accelerations. In fact, this model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. It never feels like it lacks thrust, despite its high weight, over two tons.

The battery of this sedan has a capacity of 85.4 kWh, validating up to 521 km in the WLTP combined cycle and more than 660 km in the urban cycle. Logically, the reality is different and, under normal driving conditions, the mileage that can be achieved is over 400 km. Consumption during our test was around 22 kWh/100 km.

The BYD Han surprises with its behavior. It offers an optimal compromise between comfort and dynamism. The suspension effectively filters out the irregularities of the terrain and, in turn, guarantees high cornering. The secret is in the driving mode selector (Sport, Normal, Eco and Snow), which allows you to modify the damping setting, the steering hardness and the level of power delivery. The performance of the braking system, entrusted to the Brembo specialist, is also optimal.

The Chinese sedan is equipped with the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system. Intelligent driving, because it has self-learning capabilities. It integrates technologies such as blind spot vehicle detection, forward collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, high beam assistant, lane maintenance or adaptive cruise control. These technologies allow you to enjoy a high degree of semi-autonomous driving.
