The price is one of the handicaps of electric cars, which are more expensive than their internal combustion equivalent. Aware of the brakes this represents, and given the arrival in Europe of new Chinese brands with very competitive products, some manufacturers have begun to lower rates. Despite this, very few automobile companies sell cheap zero-emission models. One of them is Dacia, which has just put the renewed Spring on sale for a starting price of 17,890 euros, which can be reduced to 10,890 euros with the help of the Moves III plan.
Without a doubt, this is a very economical figure, in line with an honest product without great ambitions. Therefore, you should not expect high performance or any type of luxury. In fact, this is what has characterized the cars of the low-cost brand of the Renault group, whose Sandero has become the best-selling model in Spain.
For its part, the Spring was the third best-selling electric vehicle to individuals in Europe in the years 2022 and 2023. In total, since its launch in 2021, more than 140,000 units have been registered worldwide.
Last February Dacia presented the renewal of the model, which can now be reserved although the first deliveries will not be made until after the summer.
The aforementioned starting price corresponds to the initial promotion; According to the data provided by the brand, the car has a recommended starting price of 19,100 euros, corresponding to the entry-level version of the range, the one powered by the 33 kW (45 HP) electric motor with the Expression finish. Above is the 48 kW (65 HP) variant with the same equipment (20,100 euros), while the Extreme costs 21,100 euros. All these rates do not have the Moves III state subsidy applied.
The most powerful engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 14 seconds, six seconds less than the 33 kW version. Both mechanical variants are equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery, which offers a range of 225 kilometers in the mixed cycle (305 km in urban routes). Although there are not many, they are enough to cover daily routes. Optionally, Dacia makes a 30 kW charger available to customers for fast charging from 20 to 80% in 45 minutes.
For the first time, the Spring can equip V2L bidirectional charging (vehicle to charge), which allows it to be used as an energy source to power any device or appliance, such as an electric scooter.
This model, about 370 centimeters long and with a 380-liter trunk, complies with European safety regulations that require new cars to be equipped with a full complement of driving aids. Thus, it incorporates technologies such as the assisted emergency braking system with detection of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles, the recognition of traffic signs with over-speed warning, parking assistance, the emergency stop signal, the lane departure warning, lane keep assist, driver attention monitoring system and emergency call (eCall).
