The ID.Buzz, a new member of the ID family, is a fundamental piece in Volkswagen’s electrification strategy. This MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) with 100% electric propulsion is a versatile and avant-garde car suitable for families, active people and companies that want to enjoy a very remarkable interior space.
Endowed with an extraordinary capacity for attraction, it is defined as an innovative, unique and different model in terms of design, creating a new product category that allows access to new segments and attracts traditional customers and new customers to the brand.
The new proposal from the German manufacturer is available in two ways: as a passenger minivan and as a van. It is for sale with prices without aid or discounts of 56,140 euros (in its Cargo version), from 61,480 euros in the PRO finish or for 71,425 euros for the First Edition version, a limited edition of 150 units with exclusive equipment such as 20-inch in Gloss Black, First Edition badging, Infotainment package with Discover Pro navigation, Styling package with Matrix LED headlights and IQ.LIGHT, plus ID.Buzz Box removable storage.
With an expressive and evocative design that recalls the legendary Bulli of 1950, it offers a high degree of functionality thanks to its Open Space interior concept, which is accessed through two sliding rear doors as standard. This translates into ample room for five occupants and their travel luggage, or a flat and open platform to load sports or leisure equipment. Sustainability is also a protagonist due to the use of synthetic and recycled materials of non-animal origin inside the vehicle.
With a length of 4.72 m and a wheelbase of 2.89 m, it offers a 1,121-liter boot that can be expanded to 2,205 by folding down the second row of seats, adjustable to adapt to each loading need. In addition, the Easy-Open function allows the electric tailgate to be opened with a gesture of the foot.
The new VW model has many digital functions and, thanks to Car2X, it can communicate with other vehicles and provide information on traffic conditions and other incidents. In addition, digital systems are updated automatically through “Over-the-air”, through We Connect.
The Cargo versions have three seats (two optional), offer a load capacity of 4 cubic meters and a payload of 650 kg. Despite its considerable dimensions -1.89 m wide and 1.93 m high-, the short overhangs and the aerodynamic bodywork give the ID.Buzz an efficient Cx (0.29) and its turning radius is 11 .1 meters.
The propulsion for the new ID.Buzz is a 204 hp (150 kW) electric motor that provides 310 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. The battery has a net capacity of 77 kWh and is integrated into the vehicle floor. This location allows for a lower center of gravity and minimizes the rolling movements of its high body.
The German brand announces a WLTP-approved autonomy of 418 km. In the case of Cargo versions, this figure is 414 km. It can be recharged at 11 kW alternating current points or at direct current fast charging stations with up to 170 kW. Using this power it takes 30 minutes to recover from 5 to 80% of its capacity.
The ID.Buzz offer will grow in 2024 with the arrival of a long body version (25 cm), which will be available with 6 and 7 seats. Also during the first quarter of next year, a 6-seater version will land, with a 2 2 2 configuration. Finally, late in 2024 it will be the turn of a higher-performance GTX version.
It can be said that with the ID.Buzz, Volkswagen inaugurates a new product category, since there are no competitors who exactly share its philosophy. The existing electric minivan format models prioritize functionality and interior space, but do not offer such an attractive design proposition. These are the three models that could be considered as an alternative to the new model of the Volkswagen ID family.
