The Tesla Cybertruck has once again demonstrated that, although it is not completely indestructible and may not be able to withstand the apocalypse – as Elon Musk has assured -, it is a very robust car that has the ability to remain standing after being involved in a severe accident.
The crash took place at the intersection of S Himes Avenue in Tampa, Florida, a Cybertruck received a side impact from a Nissan Sentra and demonstrated the resistance of Tesla’s futuristic design against serious traffic accidents.
Witnesses to the event indicated that the accident occurred when one of the vehicles ignored a red light, leading the Nissan Sentra to collide with the side of the Cybertruck. The impact was such that both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, but the damage report was very different.
The front end of the Nissan Sentra was completely destroyed, becoming an unrecognizable pile of metal with the remains of the bumper and hood scattered on the asphalt. This sedan, unfortunately, will never be driven again.
In contrast, the Tesla Cybertruck only suffered minor damage to the front fender and rear of the passenger side, with deformations of the stainless steel in the doors and air loss in the tires on that side. Therefore, everything seems to indicate that the vehicle is still in condition to be repaired and will probably return to the streets soon.
This is not the first incident involving a Cybertruck. The crash in Tampa joins two other recent accidents. The first occurred in late December, when a Toyota Corolla collided with a Cybertruck, causing only minor damage to the truck.
The second accident took place last month when a Cybertruck crashed into the signage of the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, due to driver error when confusing the brake pedal with the accelerator.
