“The road to success is very lonely, and if you are a woman, even more so,” says Giannina Gambini, the founder of the startup Extraordinary. To succeed accompanied by her, Gambini wanted to set up a network of former students from Harvard University (USA) in Barcelona, ??the city to which she moved two years ago. “It is a strategy that is used a lot at Harvard, but it turned out that there were only ten of us, so each of us began to invite friends until we reached the current 300 members,” explains the 27-year-old entrepreneur.
Extraordinary was born as a company in October 2023, in the heat of the strength that the initiative was gaining. Based in Barcelona and with a team of four people, the startup is dedicated to organizing innovative experiences for professional women who want to build networks and create new links. The experiences include ceramic workshops, yoga classes, climbing or talks, and there are already more than a hundred organized events (counting those before the company was founded). Most of the participants are women who, like the founder, come from outside the city.
After the success achieved in Barcelona, ??Extraordinary wants to make the leap to Madrid in the next three months, as well as to other areas of the country. The goal is to exceed 5,000 members by the end of this year. In addition, Gambini is in talks to start working with companies: “We have had many requests to offer these meetings to workers or professionals from the same company,” the founder explains. To help you achieve all these goals, the startup has been incubated by Bcombinator and has now entered the Wayra (Telefónica) acceleration program. In addition, the emerging company has closed an investment round of 70,000 euros and plans to launch another within half a year to strengthen the new business area.
