If we go through the field and look closely, looking for the detail, we find white ears. I repeat, white, not yellow, as I show in these photographs in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.
When the heat has burned it, it does not turn yellow, but white, and the farmers are very clear about this. Yellow would be when the sun has been toasting it, while white means burnt.
It’s clear, right? Well, don’t worry, this phenomenon already happened last year. Let us not forget that we are in a long period of drought in Catalonia. In this case, the images are from the Urgell region.
I am the son of a farmer and I can tell you that, if it doesn’t rain anymore, when I go out for a walk around the town of Altet again it will be something to cry about.
I took this other series of photographs during another walk in the early afternoon around Altet. The rainwater that was announced for Sant Jordi was late for the crops of the “Monegros de Catalunya”, which are the towns of Claravalls, La Figuerosa and Altet. Now, I can show you some very beautiful photographs of the landscape.
