As of this Tuesday, the period opens for residents in Spain to request a vote by mail for the 2023 municipal and regional elections, after the publication of their call in the Official State Gazette.

If it is decided to opt for this modality of voting, it will no longer be possible to exercise the right to vote in person on election day. To be able to vote by mail you must follow the following steps:

The postal vote can be requested from the date of the electoral call until May 18, ten days before the elections are held.

You can send the electoral documentation by certified mail up to 4 days before the elections are held. The Postal Service will keep all the envelopes received until nine in the morning on the day of the vote, at which time they will be sent to the polling stations. The correspondence that continues to be received that day will continue to be transferred until the polls close at 8:00 p.m.
