In the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de València, where the Fallas mascletà prior to the Crida would be fired this Sunday, there was a deafening silence. Politicians from all parties – who had hugged and encouraged each other minutes before after a few very hard days -, firefighters, police officers, ordinary citizens and also victims of the tragedy symbolized their regret and condolences for what happened in the brutal fire that recounts already with 10 deaths.

Previously, the plenary session of the City Council of a “broken” city – in the words of the mayor herself – approved a motion to convey “the most sincere condolences of the Municipal Corporation to the affected people, family, friends and relatives of the victims of the fire ” and “to convey to them the feeling of sadness and pain, as well as his solidarity with all of them.” The entire plenary session also approved “thanking the members of the security and emergency forces and services and, very especially, the local firefighters and police for their dedication and selflessness in fulfilling their duty.”

After five respectful minutes of silence, some of the victims came up to greet the authorities amidst the applause of those gathered.

Already in the statements, a few meters from the event and in a place set up for the media, Catalá assured that they will be working with the affected people all weekend to answer their questions and that “not a single minute will be spent on them.” of uncertainty and uncertainty in everything that comes”.

The president of the PP, Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, also spoke in an event that did not please the opposition much. Only leaders of the PP and the Vox councilor, Juanma Badenas, have been there, who sneaked into the photo to the surprise of a senior popular leader.

Feijóo has indicated that the Valencian Community and the city of Valencia “have given an example” “to all the people of Spain” and has assured that the solidarity of the Valencian people “has been proven”, something that has been shown ” very proud”.

In this sense, the leader of the PP has highlighted the coordination that has been carried out by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Valencia City Council: “It is not easy to rise to the occasion when you see so much pain and so much helplessness.”
