UP Ranks as Top University in Philippines in 2025 QS World Rankings

MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP) has secured the top spot as the Philippines’ leading university in the recently released 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.

In the latest rankings unveiled on Tuesday, UP claimed the 336th spot out of over 1,500 universities across the globe, marking a significant improvement from its 404th ranking in the 2024 edition.

This achievement solidifies UP’s position as a top-tier educational institution in the country, outperforming other prestigious universities. Following UP is the Ateneo de Manila University at 516th place, with the De La Salle University placed in the 641-650 bracket.

The University of Santo Tomas also made it to the rankings, landing in the 851-900 bracket, while the University of San Carlos secured a spot in the 1401+ range.

In the Asian region, the National University of Singapore emerged as the top-performing university, with Peking University and Nanyang Technological University following closely behind.

The top ten universities worldwide, according to the QS rankings, include renowned institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, and Harvard University.

QS evaluates universities based on various metrics such as sustainability initiatives, employment outcomes, and the international research network of the institution. The organization, headquartered in London, United Kingdom, aims to provide comprehensive insights into higher education networks globally.
