Two people have died, and half a dozen have been injured, when they were hit by a vehicle that was traveling at high speed on the Paseo de Extremadura in Madrid, in the Latina district. The driver, who initially fled, has finally been arrested. He is about a common criminal who was trying to evade a police control due to a previous investigation.
His companion is also giving a statement as they both belong to the same family clan investigated for previous crimes and who was being followed by a team of plainclothes agents.
As reported to Efe by police and emergency sources, the two people have been run over at two different points on the promenade, at number 90 and 154, respectively.
At the height of 154, the car fatally rammed a 72-year-old man while three other people were injured: a couple of about 65 years old, discharged at the scene, and a 90-year-old woman (transferred for assessment). .
While in the second incident, at number 88, an 81-year-old man lost his life while two people are being treated by the displaced medical services: one due to minor bruises and the other due to an anxiety crisis.
