Two people have died and five others are missing after the collision of two boats in the Danube River about 45 kilometers from Budapest, the authorities announced this Sunday.
The accident occurred on Saturday night in the town of Ver?ce, in the central part of the country, when a floating hotel collided with a smaller boat carrying eight people. Two of the occupants of that boat died, another was injured and five more, three men and two women, are missing. The person who was rescued alive is admitted with injuries to the head and collarbone.
About 90 people participate this Sunday in the search operation, including firefighters and volunteers. 12 boats, thermal cameras and drones are being used in the work, according to the disaster management department and reported by the information portal 444.hu.
The authorities intercepted a floating hotel that is known to have passed through the area where the accident occurred and that has damage to one of its sides, and the Police are inspecting that boat.
