In the movie “Trap” by M. Night Shyamalan, a police officer talks to his team about a victim of a serial killer called the Butcher. The victim, a good father who was dismembered, doesn’t seem like the typical protagonist we usually see in movies. Cooper, played by Josh Hartnett, is a dad with a sense of humor who gets caught up in a trap set at a Lady Raven concert. Despite being charming and at times sinister, Cooper stands out in the crowd of younger fans. Shyamalan used close-up shots of Hartnett to create a unique connection between the character and the audience.
While the film has a campy feel to it, it doesn’t delve deep into themes like fatherhood or suburban life. Some viewers may find the twist in the third act intriguing enough to keep them engaged. However, for others, the real surprise may be realizing how long ago “The Sixth Sense” was released. The film is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of 105 minutes.
