At least three people died and fifteen others were injured in Guinea-Conakry during celebrations last Friday for the national team’s 1-0 victory over Gambia in the African Cup being held in the Ivory Coast, according to medical sources. .

The victims were registered in the western city of Coyah, said Dr. Mathieu Moussa Tèmbèdouno, general supervisor of the hospital of the homonymous prefecture, in statements published by local media late on Saturday.

“Three dead and fifteen injured were received in the emergency room” after various accidents in the streets of Coyah during the celebrations, the doctor stated.

“Among the three dead there are two bodies deposited. The third died upon arriving at the hospital,” the doctor said.

Guinea-Conakry, with the footballers Ilaix Moriba, from Getafe, and Mouctar Diakhaby, from Valencia, beat Gambia and was one step away from the round of 16 of the African Cup that must be tied on the last day of Group C against Senegal, already classified.
