On Wednesday, the Urban Police arrested three men allegedly related to robberies in houses in Lleida. According to ‘Segre’ and confirmed by the Mossos d’Esquadra, the men were caught while traveling in a van where they found several tools to commit the robberies. At least they entered a house where the owner saw them and they were hooded.
The arrest took place in the Marimunt area and the local police had the collaboration of the Mossos after they were alerted of an attempted robbery in the area.
In the registered van they carried a bolt cutter, a hammer, pliers, gloves, flashlights and other materials that could be used to commit the robberies.
These arrests are the first to be made related to the robberies that occurred in l’Horta de Lleida throughout this first quarter of 2024.
The head of the ABP Segrià, Xavier Ribelles, recently explained that the Mossos have reinforced their presence in Horta de Lleida as a result of the uptick in robberies. Controls are also carried out in collaboration with the Urban Police.
The three men were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime of attempted robbery with force. The arrest is the result of an investigation initiated by the Horta local police during the hours prior to this arrest, which has had the collaboration of the Mossos d’Esquadra, as stated in the Action Plan for the prevention of robberies. in l’Horta de Lleida.
Video surveillance cameras have also played an important role, as has the neighborhood collaboration that has allowed the arrest of the three men, who were supposedly watching houses in this area to break into. Many tools that could be used in a robbery were found in the vehicle they occupied.
In addition, the cameras’ reading of his vehicle’s license plate has made it possible to know that its owner has numerous records for crimes against property and that on April 15 he was reported for an attempted robbery with force, also in the Horta.
The commissioner of the Lleida Police Region, Josep Maria Estela, has highlighted that the alarm in recent weeks among the residents of Horta has been dealt with jointly with the Urban Guard and one of the results has been the arrest last night.
Estela has highlighted that the detainees are people from the country who have many criminal records and their “modus vivendi” is crime.
