In Asia, flying lanterns, also known as Kong Ming, are a very common resource to celebrate any of the festivals or celebrations that often take place in this part of the world. Its presence is very striking due to the color that these lanterns adopt and the multitude of units that are launched.
These days, in mid-April, many regions in Yunnan Province, southwest China, celebrate one of the largest and most important festivals of the year, the Splashing Water Festival, and these lanterns are essential items during the celebration. The Chinese lantern is a small hot air balloon made of paper with a small fire suspended at the bottom of the opening.
In it, people write wishes on the lantern paper, making them fly into the sky in the hope that their wishes will come true.
