The ‘Delicia de Sepia’ designed by the team at the Barcelona hotel Üpper Diagonal (Passeig de Manuel Girona, 7) has been declared the winner of the I City of Barcelona and Catalonia Pinchos and Tapas Competition, which yesterday celebrated its grand finale in La Llotja de Mar de Barcelona during a day in which 48 candidates cooked live.
This snack prepared with shichimi and mango mayonnaise, shrimp tartare and tuna salt will represent Catalonia in the next edition of the national tapas championship that will be hosted by the city of Valladolid next November.
The award for the second best tapa in Catalonia went to Salsa Street Food (Laforja, 130. Barcelona), which entered the contest with its ‘Croqueta de cochinita pibil’. Third place, on the other hand, went to Can Culleres (Bilbao, 79. Barcelona), who competed with a snack called ‘Peu amb bola’.

All the finalist recipes of the 1st City of Barcelona and Catalonia Pintxos and Tapas Contest can be tested on a route that started last Thursday and will remain active until next Sunday. The Tapascat app includes the 48 establishments that have participated in the first edition of the contest, spread over seven locations (Barcelona, ??Girona, Cambrils, Sitges, Vic, Calella, El Masnou).
