The Civil Guard works this Tuesday to rescue a second corpse that has been sighted in Mallorca very close to the coast in an area where emergency teams believe that the sailboat ‘Makan Angin’, missing for eight days, could have disappeared , when a strong storm with winds of 120 kilometers per hour swept the Balearic archipelago.
The nine-meter-long sailboat had left Cala Galdana, in Menorca, on August 20, bound for Cala d’Or, in Mallorca. A German father and son were traveling in it, who in the morning maintained contact with their family, who was in Germany at the time. They left at 10:30 in the morning and have not been heard from since then. The sailboat’s departure time coincided with the arrival of the great storm that left numerous incidents on the islands.
The Civil Guard is trying to rescue the body after another body was located this Monday. The identity of the victim is not known at this time due to the situation in which the body was found. It will be necessary to carry out DNA tests but one of the investigators’ hypotheses is that he is one of the crew members of the missing sailboat.
Members of the Special Underwater Activities Group (GEAS) and the Civil Guard helicopter, as well as Maritime Rescue media, participate in the search operation for this second corpse. This Tuesday they will continue the search in this area, as well as in the entire route from Capdepera to the end of Ses Salines, although the waves are complicating the task.
