The afternoon in the pool in the middle of a heat wave in the Jaén town of Ibros could have been fatal for the family of a child who was sucked into the treatment plant, although he managed to get out on his own.

After what happened, the parents went to the Civil Guard of Baena to file a complaint in the local public children’s pool, which has led to the preventive closure of this municipal aquatic facility until the judge determines the possible responsibilities derived from this event, as published by Nius.

Sources from the Benemérita have detailed that the incident took place on the afternoon of last Tuesday, when the minor, after being trapped by the children’s water treatment plant, was able to get out of the water without help because the height of that area of ??the pool is 49 centimeters.

Blas, 8 years old, was in the pool with many other children when suddenly his family saw that their son was submerged in the water waving his arms a lot. There were a few dramatic seconds in which not even the lifeguard herself could react, the boy’s mother told Nius, “imagine if he became a baby,” she emphasizes.

Luckily the minor managed to get out of the water without help. “He was pale, with white lips and when we looked at his back, it was all purple,” explains Encarni. “We don’t even know how it happened. My son was trapped underwater because the pool’s treatment plant sucked him in and wouldn’t let him come to the surface,” he adds.

The little boy went to the nearest health center, from where he was referred to the Emergency Department of the San Agustín Hospital, where he was treated for a severe bruise on his back and an injury report was opened. His state of health is good, but not psychological “because he was very nervous,” says his mother.

For his part, the mayor of the municipality, Juan Matías Reyes, has declared to Europa Press that this pool basin is closed to the public and the municipal technicians “are examining the premises to write a report that helps clarify the circumstances surrounding the event”, emphasizing that the space “complies with current regulations.
