The animalist party Pacma is going to request the intervention of the authorities after a video was revealed of the action of the occupants of a sailboat who shot a group of orcas in the Strait of Gibraltar.

The reaction of the political formation is one of the many that have occurred throughout the morning, after the events were revealed by video, which occurred yesterday afternoon in waters near Tarifa (Cádiz).

The attack was captured by the occupants of a whale watching vessel, from which the sailboat was previously informed by radio of its proximity to a school of orcas.

At that moment, the approach of the animals to the boat was responded by its occupants with several bursts of projectile shots that have not yet been determined.

The images clearly reflect the moment in which the shots begin to be fired, and how the crew of the tourist ship yells at them to stop doing it.

In a statement, Pacma has condemned the events and recalled that orcas are listed as a vulnerable species in the Spanish Catalog of Threatened Species (CEEA), therefore any action taken with the purpose of killing, capturing, persecuting or bother them

The episodes of interaction of killer whales with sailboats in the Strait have been causing problems in recent times and the reason why they act on sailboats is being investigated through several open projects to follow their behavior in the area.
