They caused damage valued at 30,000 euros and took material equivalent to 14,000. There are 18 young people, 13 of them minors, who have been detained by the Civil Guard after spending several days in August sneaking into an institute in the Alicante town of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, bordering the capital and university headquarters.

The Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the release of the minors, while the adults were brought to judicial custody after taking statements at the Police Station.

According to the story offered by the Civil Guard, the secondary education institute reported in August about the robberies suffered over four days. Among the stolen objects were technological material such as 3D printers, laptop and desktop computers, graphics cards and various types of tools, all valued at around 14,000 euros.

The perpetrators carried out these robberies over several days and always during daylight hours, evading a perimeter fence and breaking a window to access the interior, in order to deactivate the alarm system upon accessing the building.

After various investigations, the Civil Guard identified all the alleged perpetrators, five adults between the ages of 18 and 21, as well as 13 minors, including two women, all of them residents of Sant Vicent del Raspeig and Alicante.

One of the eldest acted as leader of the gang, while the others, including several students from the center, were in charge of surveillance outside the building.

The Civil Guard carried out the arrests between September 5 and 13. The agents managed to recover the 3D printers, graphics cards, various tools, and laptop and desktop computers, allowing the affected institute to resume its computer and technology classes in a timely manner.
