In this video in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos we can see the value of silence in the afternoons of this spring winter, less cold than usual, in the fields around Manlleu, in the Osona region.

The afternoons pass in complete calm in the cattle pasture meadows, where horses, sheep and other farm animals feed, enjoying the calm of a benign weather.

Bucolism is a common theme in the arts, drawing inspiration from natural and rustic settings, such as forests and mountains, close to meadows and water. Photography is not exempt from this inspiration, as can be seen in these images.

In literature it is reflected through genres such as the idyll, the eclogue, the serranilla, the pastorela, the dramatic eclogue or pastoral farce and the pastoral novel. In photographic art, the image dominates over the words. It is the value of silence.

Silence is the total absence of sound, but it also communicates. Silence, in fact, is just as important as sound. In fact, without sound there could be no silence.
