One of the greatest impotences for an editorial team is not being able to explain well everything that happens around them. How many initiatives or anonymous professionals have more than enough merit to be known by the general public, but sometimes the focus is taken by other activities or people who would not deserve it as much. The opportunity that digitalization offers us is that, unlike the paper edition of La Vanguardia, which is finite and does not fit everything, in the digital world there is no space border.
That is why it is easier to explain well everything that happens and that sometimes escapes us. For example: university activity. In Catalonia we have the privilege of having an extraordinary potential of scientists and humanists whose work, on many occasions, does not leave the walls of educational centers. To alleviate this, the Universitat de Barcelona, ??the Autònoma and the Politècnica have joined forces with La Vanguardia to launch a new channel for disseminating their activities: La Uni. The rector of the Politècnica could not have explained it better yesterday at the presentation of the channel, Daniel Crespo: “We generate a lot of information and we are very proud of what we do, but we need a structured communication channel that helps us get closer to society.” And also under a reference brand such as La Vanguardia, which contributes to providing truthfulness against the noise of unverified information that populates social networks.
The Uni intends to amplify all the work already carried out by the different universities. Only the UB, the UAB and the UPC have a total of 155,000 people, including students, professors, researchers and administrative staff. Many of its faculties are world leaders and have university offers that do not exist in other countries. Sometimes what is ignored is despised and the value of our public universities deserves all the recognition. The harmony that its three rectors showed yesterday at the CosmoCaixa event is another good proof of the level of civility and respect in the university world.
